We prefer the consistency of this to other recommended sunscreens. It seems to stay on for a long time and my child prefers the feeling of it on her skin. It has a slight scent, but not a chemical one, actually similar to the natural bug repellents we like as well! Price can’t be beat when it’s offered as a 4-pack. They used to carry this at Whole Foods, but haven’t seen it there recently. It’s also in a size that can be carried on a plane, which is very convenient. Trying out their lip balm, too! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: Great sunscreen!, September 10, 2009 By Erika Queen “–Erika” (Washington) – See all my reviews This review is from: Badger Organics Sunscreen Spf 30 2.9 Oz (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty) This was a great sunscreen! I was a little nervous of looking like a “Cullen,” with a white sheen as others have mentioned, but with a tiny bit of effort, all the white was rubbed in. I did get burnt one day, in Hawaii, after playing in the waves for six hours without reapplying, but my husband, who used a “conventional” sunscreen was much worse off than I was. I’d buy this again, and will! 2 of 3 people found the following review helpful: Not Water Resistant, July 31, 2009 By Babs McBee (Silver Spring, MD) – See all my reviews This review is from: Badger Organics Sunscreen Spf 30 2.9 Oz (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty) I used this product on a recent beach trip. The label says that it “retains SPF after 40 minutes activity in the water”. That is a lie. I applied the sunscreen liberally and even waited 15 minutes before going outside to really let it soak into my skin. I was only in the ocean for about 30 minutes before heading back inside for lunch, but I ended up almost as burn on my face as if I had not worn any sunscreen at all. This product seems to work well for dry activities, but does not seem to be all that water resistant and certainly does not live up to the claim on the label. |

This review is from: Badger SPF 30 Anti-Bug Sunscreen Tube — 2.9 oz (Misc.) In the search for a more natural sunblock that will work and actually not cause you to break out, this one seems to be a sunblock for those of us who have acne prone skin or skin sensitive to certain chemicals or fillers that they tend to put in other sunscreens. This sunblock seems, based on the ingredients, that it will not cause acne. The ingredients in this sunblock are listed in percentage on the label so you know exactly the percent they use for each of the essential oils that help act as bug repellent. Also as an added benefit some of the essential oils in this sunblock also help with acne prone skin so it is a plus on many levels..not only for bug repellent but for helping to keep acne at bay.You will of course smell the scent of citronella and lemongrass at first application (keep in mind this is what repels bugs! not bees as I will explain below) and it is not a bad scent really..it will tone down after you have put it on after a little bit and should not be an issue. Also, this sunblock as with any sunblock with zinc will leave a little bit of a white cast and some oiliness or shine so if that is an issue for you, it is easily remedied by patting on a little bit of your favorite skin color powder after you applied the sunblock and then you are good to goOne bad thing I have unfortunately noticed was that Bees are attracted to this sunblock, I am not sure why. But I noticed after several uses in the summer, if I was in any area that potentially had bees, they ended up persistently following me and not going away! which is scary! It may be from one of the essential oils? They seem to act like I am some sort of flower! Great 2-in-1 but attracts bees, August 23, 2011 By Wondermom (Texas) – See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: Badger SPF 30 Anti-Bug Sunscreen Tube — 2.9 oz (Misc.) Because my second son has sensitive skin and eczema, we’ve gone natural with a lot of products in our home in the last year. I love the natural ingredients in this Badger sunscreen plus bug repellent, and I love that it uses zinc so it’s the kind of sunscreen that will work as soon as you put it on. I also think the citronella component of the bug repellant works pretty well because I’m a mosquito magnet, and I’ve not had much of a problem with bites using this. My biggest complaint, though, is that the sweet scent attracts BEES. When we’re in a park with this, it seems like the moment I’ve finished spreading the stuff on my kids, bees show up, and they want to hover around me and my children like we’re flowers. It makes me very nervous, since my younger son’s never been stung before, and I don’t know if he may be allergic to bee stings. My second complaint would be that the stuff is thick and a bit oily. On the one hand, you know exactly which spots have been covered and which areas need a little bit more. On the other hand, every time I apply, I have to wipe my hands with a baby wipe or I’ll grease everything else I touch. Bull Frog makes a pump-spray that’s 2-in-one. I don’t think the sunscreen on the Bullfrog is as effective, but that’s what I usually reach for these days when we just want to go outside to play for a short time. In the end, I suspect I’m probably better off using regular sunscreen with zinc, and then spraying bug spray on top. I just really like the idea of a 2-in-one that works.
