Sunscreen SPF 20 Lotion UVA This is the new Euro-spec formulation to meet the 2009 EU SPF Regulation changes. This is the original SPF 30 lotion reformulated with a blend of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in order to provide the higher UVA protection. Given that the EU rules require UVA be 1/3rd of the total SPF, the SPF 6.7 UVA rating results in an overall SPF of 20 for the product, even though the UVB rating is significantly higher. There is NO BETTER all-natural, mineral based protection available – good UVA protection, excellen t UVB protection, and remember that only mineral based sunscreen effectively protects against UVC rays. NOTE that zinc is in NANOPARTICLE form, but is coated in stearic acid to render it inert and hence harmless in the body Pediatrician recommended! We have never used any other sunscreen on him, and probably never will. This works wonders! Don’t get concerned with the low SPF (I think it says 20 on it). We had a garage sale last month and my then 14 months old son spent the entire day outside with us. I applied this sunscreen once in the morning and by evening he only had a little sunburn in a spot that I missed. The rest of his skin was just fine, despite the hot, sunny weather. Yes, Lavera is expensive, but since you don’t have to keep reapplying it, you use a lot less. We use it every day and are still on our first tube for this year. I highly recommend it! I have a very fair skinned, red head who burns very easily and this sunscreen keeps her well protected even if she forgets to reapply after swimming. Yes, this formula is thick, but the ingredients are the absolute best you can buy and this sunscreen is made with the very highest standards for quality and efficacy. So you can either use another thinner sunscreen or use this one that actually works without all the toxic chemicals that are used in cheaper sunscreens. This one is 100% mineral based AND organic. As far as I’m concerned, my daughter is worth every extra penny. Trying to get this onto my skin was like rubbing on thick paste. Even though I didn’t use very much, it turned my skin white and try as I might to rub it in, it took FOREVER for the whiteness to fade slightly. My skin felt RAW afterwards. It was drying and it felt as if I had one of those thick facial masks on my skin. Great concept, absolutely TERRIBLE execution. |
