Great get-started instructions. It takes a little time to get use to what brush you use with what and in what order, but I have had more complements on how nice I look and how great my skin looks. For an upper middle-aged woman, this is a great product if you are looking to feel and look younger. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: HORRIBLE!!!!, November 5, 2010 This review is from: bareMinerals Complexion Enhancers Kit (Misc.) I completely had the same reaction as “Faerie at heart”. At first, I loved this product. It made my skin look soft, smooth, and the coverage was pretty good. After using it for about a month, my face started itching. Then, after the second month, I started breaking out with cystic acne and I had red patches everywhere! I couldn’t figure out what was going on with my skin. I blamed it on the clarasonic mia at first because I had started using that product at the same time and I was told that it would make me break out. Into my third month of using Bare Minerals and after a month of using the clarasonic, I felt like my face was DESTROYED. I did some research online and found out the chemical Bismuth Oxychloride (which is in bare minerals) makes a lot of people break out and causes itchy red patches to appear. I stopped using bare m inerals IMMEDIATELY when I read this. I switched my makeup line to neutrogena (which is hypoallergenic). I’m not entirely happy with the make up I’m using now, but it’s a temporary fix since my skin is on it’s way to recovering from the beating my skin got from the Bismuth Oxychloride in Bare Minerals. I’m still using the clarasonic mia (which I love now!!!) and I haven’t had any breakouts since I switched products. I know a lot of people say this, but I’m never the type of person to make reviews. I just always read them before I buy anything. Unfortunately, I didn’t read any on this product and it did a number on my skin. If you’re skin is resilliant and can handle a lot of products, than this makeup line is good for you. If you have sensitive skin, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS!!! I don’t want anyone to go through what I went through with this product. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: I had an allergic reaction to the buffer brush!, October 24, 2010 By Ashley (Hartford, CT) – See all my reviews This review is from: bareMinerals Complexion Enhancers Kit (Misc.) Let me start out this review by saying that I have tried bare Minerals in the past and was very pleased with it. I first stumbled upon this stuff when I was in my mid teens. Because I was suffering from horrible acne, I couldn’t use most liquid foundations since they just irritated my skin and made my acne worse. After I saw a commerical for bare Minerals, I tested out some that my mother had. It worked great; it just made my face look a bit tan because the foundation was darker than my skin (my mom has olive skin while I have pale skin). Flash forward a few years. I tried it again at a Bare Escenuals store. Still worked great; I just couldn’t buy any at the time because of how expensive it was. Yesterday, while in NY visiting a friend, I went to one of the stores, and was seriously considering buying some. One of the associates offered to let me try it out; I figured that it couldn’t hurt. Well, everything went fine…until after the concealer went on. When she started buffing my face, I noticed my face immediately becoming red and itchy. The associate noticed my face was red too…and when I wiped it off, I was shocked! My face was covered in red, itchy hives! It turns out, the buffer brush they use now is made of goat hair, and I’m allergic to almost all animals with hair. I didn’t make a scene in the store or anything like that; it wasn’t their fault. I’m just warning other potential customers out there, as I know my allergy isn’t uncommon. The makeup is great. I’m just really disappointed that I wasn’t told about the brush. I’m going to write Bare Escentuals a letter of complaint. To everyone else: just be warned. |
