Soy Skincare
What it is:A set featuring products to cleanse, moisturize, and treat from the best-selling Soy Collection.
What it does:
Cleanse, moisturize, and treat with Fresh’s Soy Skincare Set. Fresh pioneered the use of soy in the beauty industry in the early nineties discovering that amino-acid-rich soy proteins are essential to maintaining healthy skin. The Soy Face Cleanser is a multi-functional, daily-use formula that contains soy proteins and natural extracts to remove impurities and makeup—even mascara—while toning and hydrating the complexion. The Soy Face Cream is a fast-absorbing moisturizer that instantly delivers optimum moisture and revives skin cells. It is enriched with cell-renewing soy proteins, protective antioxidants, soothing cucumber, and softening rose water. Lotus Eye Gel revitalizes and hydrates the eyes and reduces puffiness and signs of fatigue. The formula contains toning lotus flower, stimulating green coffee extract, and calming cucumber.
This set contains:
- 1.7 oz Soy Face Cleanser
- 1.0 oz Soy Face Cream
- 0.07 oz Lotus Eye Gel
- White Zip Makeup Bag
My Thoughts:
I purchased this kit in November 2009. I did use the Lotus Eye Gel sample completely, but was not a fan of the cleanser or cream. The Lotus Eye Gel actually lightened the skin around my eyes so that it was a noticably different colour than the rest of my face, which was good for my dark circles, until I stopped using it and the dark circles returned but the rest of the area around my eyes remained significantly lighter. I’m not sure if the kit I picked up was past its prime, but the face cream smelled foul to the point where I had to wash it off after a few hours because I could not stand it and ended up throwing it out after only a few uses. The cleanser seemed to leave my skin bright red, so I only used it a few times as well. After reviewing the ingredient list for each item, I realized that many of the main ingredients are questionable, if not moderately hazardous to hazardous. I would not recommend any of these products, especially given the high prices.

Soybean germ extract is derived from the soybean; after the hulls and oil are collected, the remaining flakes, which represent this valuable protein rich extract, are crushed into a fine powder.

The following is a brand review of Fresh from the Beautypedia website:
Strengths: fresh provides complete product ingredient lists on their Web site; some good facial cleansers.
Weaknesses: Very expensive; very fragrant; several products contain potent plant irritants; limited sunscreens; boring below-standard toners and masks; no viable exfoliant options (at least if you’re aiming to avoid extraneous irritation); no products to manage acne or reliably lighten skin discolorations; the lip balm with sunscreen does not provide sufficient UVA protection.
