Here is the Beautypedia Review for Maybelline New York Great Lash Mascara:
Great Lash Mascara (regular or curved brush) builds some length, though it takes a good deal of effort to get anywhere, and pales in comparison to most of Maybelline’s other mascaras. Great Lash does not build any thickness and it has a tendency to smear. The curved brush version does little to make an unimpressive mascara any better. It may (shockingly) be the #1-selling mascara, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best.
Here is the Allure Best of Beauty Review for Hall of Fame Winner – Maybelline New York Great Lash Mascara:
True believers in the adage “If it ain’t broke,” Maybelline has not changed the Great Lash formula in the 40 years since the mascara’s inception. More remarkable still, someone in the U.S. buys one of these pink-and-green tubes every 1.7 seconds. The secret lies in the mascara’s glossy blue-black pigments and wet consistency, says Debra Coleman-Nally, director of research and development for Maybelline New York. Makeup artist Troy Surratt adds, “Whether you want a natural, lash-tinted effect or a full-on glam look, this is one mascara that can do it all.”
WHAT IT IS:
A lengthening and thickening mascara
HOW IT LOOKS/FEELS:
It has a medium-size brush; the tube has a wiper to keep the formula from getting gloppy on the brush; it’s ophthalmologist-tested and safe for sensitive eyes and contact-lens wearers.
WHY WE LIKE IT:
It’s no surprise that this classic mascara has won Allure’s Readers’ Choice and Best of Beauty awards multiple times: Great for everyday, the light formula delivers long, evenly spaced lashes and keeps them soft, not brittle or spiky.
AWARDS:
Best of Beauty 2007, 1998, 1997, and 1996; Best of Beauty Hall of Fame 2011; Readers’ Choice 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, and 1996
